2029 for Giáp Tuất 1994, men: the middle year of a three-year stretch

Rooster and Dog form a harm pair, and this is the second Tam Tai year. But the star is Mộc Đức — and the middle is where people give up.

2029 is Kỷ Dậu, nạp âm Đại Trạch Thổ, the same as 2028. A man born in 1994 turns 36, and this is the second of the three Tam Tai years.

The harm pair Rooster and Dog

Of the four relationships a year can bring, harm is the mildest and also the hardest to notice. An opposition is obvious and a punishment can be felt; harm simply erodes. There is never a collision big enough to make anyone stop and look.

The classical phrase for this pair translates as "chicken and dog do not get along". Homely, and about right: the two are not fighting, they are just permanently in each other's way.

In practice that erosion turns up in the repeated daily things nobody counts as a problem: a process that snags, a person who is hard to coordinate with, a small regular expense. Individually not worth mentioning. Over twelve months, worth mentioning.

The middle is where people give up

This is not in any almanac, but it is in how people work. In any long stretch — three careful years, a long course, a recovery — the middle is the dangerous part.

At the start there is resolve; at the end the finish is visible. In the middle there is neither. If you have decided to keep your head down through Tam Tai, 2029 is the year that decision gets tested — not by an event, but by boredom.

The concrete answer: pick one or two small things, do them regularly, make them measurable, and make them depend on nobody else. In a year whose advice is "do not start anything large", what keeps a person from drifting is small things that still move.

The star Mộc Đức

Thirty-six lands on Mộc Đức, the third of the three favourable stars. It is associated with growth, with helpful people, and with study.

Put beside the paragraph above, that produces advice which is both clear and easy to act on: 2029 suits learning something with a beginning and an end. It satisfies both sides — not a large venture of the kind Tam Tai worries about, but something moving steadily enough to get through the middle year.

Also worth noting: thirty-six divides by nine exactly, so Kim Lâu does not apply. But the year is still inside Tam Tai, so on the question of building a house the two rules disagree. If a choice has to be made, 2027 remains the cleaner window.

The four areas in 2029

Love. Harm is the relation that erodes, and in a relationship it does not show up as a row. It shows up as small things nobody bothers to mention: an irritating habit long since tolerated, a question that stopped being asked. What is worth doing this year is asking one question you stopped asking — not solving one large problem.

Work. Mộc Đức belongs to study and to helpful people; Tam Tai says do not start anything. The overlap between those two pieces of advice is narrow and very clear: learn something with a start date and an end date. It moves steadily without being a launch.

The household. Thirty-six does not fall foul of Kim Lâu, but the year is still inside Tam Tai, so the two rules have not agreed about building. What is worth auditing this year is the small regular outgoings: individually not worth mentioning, over twelve months worth mentioning.

Everyone else. Mộc Đức is the star of helpful people, and in a year whose general advice is to keep your head down, help rarely arrives as an opportunity. It arrives as somebody willing to listen. If anyone asks whether you are all right this year, the true answer will be more useful than the polite one.

One line for each thing

  • The real risk is erosion, not an event. Audit the small annoyances you have got used to tolerating.
  • What to do: study something with a start date and an end date. Mộc Đức and the psychology of a middle year point the same way.
  • What to postpone: building. Kim Lâu is silent but Tam Tai is not, so the two rules are not agreeing yet.
