2030 for Canh Ngọ 1990, men: the last Tam Tai year, and why it is bright

Skim an almanac and 2030, for someone born in 1990, is the last Tam Tai year, the one that closes a three-year stretch of bad luck. Read more closely and the year has two things few years offer: its animal sits in the Horse's own trine, and the watching star is Thái Dương.

One rule says be careful, two others say it is favourable. It is not the first time this system contradicts itself, and the right response is not to pick whichever you prefer to hear.

Three rules, three different subjects

2030 is Canh Tuất, nạp âm Thoa Xuyến Kim. A man born in 1990 turns 41.

• The third Tam Tai year: the Dog year closes the Monkey–Rooster–Dog run for the Tiger–Horse–Dog trine.
• The trine: the Dog shares the Fire group with the Horse, the best relationship a year can bring a sign.

Notice something curious: Tam Tai and the trine come from the same group here. It is precisely because the Dog is in the Horse's trine that a Dog year is the Horse's last Tam Tai year. Two rules built on the same three animals, one reading them as strength in numbers, the other as a lean spell.

The most honest reading separates them by subject. Tam Tai is a rule about starting things and signing papers. The trine is about relationships and being supported by others. Thái Dương is about reputation, career, and what is seen. A year when you should not sign a large contract can still be a year when you are recognised.

One small detail: the heavenly stem of 2030 is Canh, the same as the birth year 1990. Canh comes round every ten years, so this is the fourth Canh year since you were born, after 2000, 2010 and 2020. The almanacs have no special rule for it, but a ten-year mark is a good excuse to look back over the last ten years.

The four areas in 2030

Love. The trine is the most favourable relationship for relationships, and 2030 does not fall foul of Kim Lâu. Tam Tai is still there, and 2031 falls foul of Kim Lâu Tử, so if your family keeps the calendar, a wedding should wait for 2032. But for day-to-day life together, this is the easiest year since 2027.

Work. This is where Thái Dương speaks most clearly: a year of being recognised, being seen, being given work with a voice. Tam Tai advises against opening your own company or large financial commitments. Together: a good year for promotion inside the organisation you are in, rather than a year to strike out alone.

The household. Earth feeding Metal is a year of giving. It is likely a year you invest more in children or parents than in yourself. That is not a loss; it is the nature of a generating relationship.

Everyone else. The Tiger–Horse–Dog trine is the group a Horse most easily gets help from. If something needs another pair of hands, this is the easiest year to ask.
